circa 2015 - 2019
Feb 2023: I am going to break up into a few parts this topic of Money written years ago. It is no coincidence, I feel, that V has led us to this juncture, in light of the dreadful war period that is coming (see “2023 - A Summary”), of which Mammon (the powerful money demon) plays a huge part.
I often share with the members about money - it is either you tame it, be a master over it, or you become a slave to it.
MONEY - IT IS EITHER YOU TAME IT, BE A MASTER OVER IT, OR YOU BECOME A SLAVE TO IT
Looking back, I like to think I have been quite successful in making my money work very hard for me since, nearly thirty years ago, when God told me to get out of debt. Like the busy housewife in Proverbs 31:10-31, I worked hard, applying all the principles He had taught me.
So, throughout the many ups and downs in the economy over the last 30 years, and now with challenges and difficulties caused by the Covid19 pandemic, while many suffer financial hardship, I can thankfully say: “I have no fear for my household as all of them are cloaked in scarlet” (Proverbs 31:21).
As a matter of fact, we have done even better through it all.
So, let me first begin this series of posts about money with this misconception many Christians have.
Money is Not the Root of all Evil
The Bible says in 1 Timothy 6, verse 10:
“For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” (NLT)
In some Churches, we were taught not to have anything to do with money, as though money had the power to corrupt us. Some preachers even told us to give away all our money to them or to the Church.
Read it carefully for this is often misquoted – it is the love of money, it is not money itself that leads to much evil.
Money is an object, a medium of exchange. It has no spirit and no soul, therefore it has no character, no morals, no feelings, and no sense of right or wrong. Therefore, it cannot be evil or holy. When I worked as Director of Finance in the corporate world, I was never tempted by the millions that passed through my hands. To me, there were mere digits.
Money only becomes the demon with the capital “M”, in the kingdom of Mammon, when you love it, when you worship it.
MONEY ONLY BECOMES THE DEMON WITH THE CAPITAL"M" , IN THE KINGDOM OF MAMMON, WHEN YOU LOVE IT, WHEN YOU WORSHIP IT
If you love God and worship Him only, money will never become your idol, and Mammon cannot have any control over you. You don’t have to hate money or spurn making lots of it to prove that you love God. He knows better. The devil too.
Money in the hands of the good becomes good.
Money in the hands of the bad becomes bad.
Would God our Father rather have money in the hands of the righteous or in the wicked?
